James J. Barry

Dr. Barry has over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining InspireMD, he was the President and CEO of Arsenal Medical, a life sciences company focused on developing advanced biomaterials. The majority of his career was spent at Boston Scientific, where he held a variety of senior positions, including serving as Sr. Vice President of Corporate Technology Development. In that role, he had direct responsibility for Corporate R&D, Preclinical Sciences, and for maintaining the company’s product development systems. One of his most notable achievements at Boston Scientific includes leading the development and launch of the TAXUS™ drug-eluting coronary stent, which attained annual sales exceeding $3 billion.

 

Prior to joining Boston Scientific, he held positions at Howmedica Inc and Kontron Instruments, Inc., serving as a Principal Research Scientist and a Sr. Research Scientist, respectively. 

 

Dr. Barry is the author of multiple articles in peer-reviewed publications and holds more than 35 U.S. and international patents. He currently serves on the advisory boards of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, the University of Massachusetts Lowell- Kennedy College of Sciences, and Yale University’s College of Biomedical Engineering. He holds a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a BA in chemistry from Saint Anselm College.
